I made a thread earlier about a wobbly scratch prone hinge and I've noticed another quirk with my VGN-FW465. If I press down on the spot shown in the picture indicated by the red arrow, I hear a weird clicking noise. Using my pinky if I press just to the left of the Tab and Caps lock keys I hear a weird click. Can anyone else confirm this noise or is my device faulty? My 14 day return policy ends this friday.
Thanks!
Heres a youtube video to better explain myself:

another scratch has also appeared on the bottom of the screen where the speaker grill rubs against the screen frame. The main reason I spent the cash for a Vaio was for the build quality!

I just bought a Vaio FW450j/b. I don't have any of those issues.

damn it seems like the section where the keyboard is and the frame around it arnt completely flush and there is some give to the keyboard section. If I press down on the tab key with a little force itll press the entire section down.

I hear the double click in your video. Sounds like some play in the bezel surrounding the key. You have 2 options, return it and hope the 2nd system does not have this or any other issue, or you can attempt a repair on your own by taking it apart and diagnosing the click. Chances are you will be able to repair it, if not, exchange it.
I've had to shim a keyboard or two by using thick paper to remove play in various spots with good success. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, I'd probably exchange it while you still can. -
Do you also have the same double click on your FW? Or do you mean you just can just hear it in my video. If it is universal to FW's than i wont mind too much =( because exchanging it will only give me another FW with the same issue. If i can get a few more people to confirm the sound I wont make the hour trip over to the sony style store to exchange it. Thanks for the input tbNB!
P.S. I'm not one to open laptops I'm notorious for making small issues into huge problems when i try to fix things myself haha -
Opening up your laptop voids your warranty. Not recommended.
Call the Sony Style store's tech department, or email [email protected] and ask this question so that a Level II tech from [email protected] will get back to you. -
I sent them a message but was wondering if anyone else with an FW could give me some input.
-
That is not normal! Send it back ASAP! Call their customer service representative and ask to speak to a manager and escalate the issue. This way you resolve problems earlier than later! I suggest you call NOW!

I heard the double click too. My keyboard and case line up perfectly. My keyboard is responsive and doesn't sound like that at all. I would definitely get an RMA.
-
Thanks guys driving over to Sony Style shop for an exchange.
-
Mine also doesn't have that clicking noises. My keyboard sits perfectly to palm rest. You may have a bended keyboard.
