I know this is a very technical question but anyway I need to ask it.

Today I saw a post in a thread with regard to the fact that FW uses CCFL backlighting whereas Z uses LED backlighting. After a brief research I have found LED backlighting is a better backlighting method, though each method has its own pros and cons.

Anyway, one of the cons of CCFL is that the brightness that the lamps produce wears down eventually.

My question is: Would the brightness level that I use directly affect this wearing down speed? For instance, would you say a screen used with full brightness will wear down more quickly as opposed to a screen used with half brightness? Or would you say both screens’ brightness used for the same period of time will wear down to the same level regardless of the brightness level used for them?

This question is important for me as my FW has a Hicolor screen and thus uses double lamp. I may need to be careful when using the brightness all the way up.

im not sure i can give the facts.
anyway my opinion is its depend on how you use it. say turning off instead of using the screen saver on the monitor when you not using it perhaps save and increase the lifetime. one thing to know that xbrite-eco is said to have slight dimmer than the old xbrite sony lcd monitor..
also, use 60Hz refresh is fine for the lcd monitor.

okay, i hope this helps. though, admit that the ccfl tears down and need replace after reaching its duration..
ps: sorry for my english D:

    HI,

I have the VGB-FW11E Sony VAIO and the screen is perfect quality and plenty of brightness. I was amazed in fact how good the screen quality really was.
