All you need is AHCI driver posted above .
Than you have to do slipstream it with nLine .
You dont need to change anything in BIOS ...

Hi
Regarding brightness control & XP
I partially solved the problem of brightness control with FW11E. It is possible to control brightness using just one mouse click. (Fn keys are still not functional)
To do this I installed RightMark CPU clock tool ( http://cpu.rightmark.org/download/rmclock_235_bin.exe)
After install I opened RightMark and chose profile item in list. There are four profiles available in free version. (So you could assign 4 brightness levels - one per each profile.)
Then I selected "OS setting" button inside of particular profile and marked check box "Manage LCD panel brightness". Then I selected brightness level I want to assign to the particular profile for two cases "Battery" and "AC power".
Did the same operation for each profile.
Now click apply and close. Configuration is done.
Now profiles could be chosen through the left or right click on tray icon of RightMark CPU clock tool. -
I have another question:
Sony VAIO FW11E does support Windows XP SP2 x64??? -
Please answer my question because I need to know this as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot anyway....
Hope -
fw11e has core 2 duo, which supports 64 bit operating systems. however, it will be difficult to find the appropriate drivers for xp 64 bit.

Things have been going quite well... but there were some issues with hibernation and standby caused by the hdaudio fax modem driver... hsx_cnxt.sys ... I've disabled the device, and the issues have gone away ... a bit of an inelegant fix, but standby is more useful than a fax modem. The same driver seemed to cause a bit of instability running on battery power. Any clues or experiences with this would be great.
As to the 64 bit version. I managed to successfully get xp 64 running, but could not manage to find a bluetooth driver for x64 xp. I use bluetooth quite a bit, so I've gone back to 32bit until I'm sure that's solid. Everything else was fixable, but the process was a lot more fiddly ... the driver archive mentioned a few pages back has quite a few of the 64 bit drivers, and the rest (bar bluetooth) were findable. Any clues, of course, please post ... it would be nice to use that extra gig of ram, and for the evening I was running x64, performance did seem to be markedly better.
On the issue of the brightness buttons, using MobilityMofifier, it is possible to install the latest drivers for the ATI radeon and this should include the ATI control center. This lets you control lots of settings on the display adapter. There is a hot key mapper for this, and though I haven't managed to get this working for the brightness, in theory it should let you do this. It was necessary to use this to get the display adapters working for xp 64bit. -
Thanks emretak
You helped me a lot

FYI. This downgrade also works on FW11-M.

Hi guys,
Sorry to come to this so late and start up this old thread again. I've a VGN FW11E and would like to downgrade to XP as some of my external hardware (music stuff) doesn't work with Vista.
This thread looks very useful, but I'm a complete novice computer-wise and some of this thread is confusing. Before I start, I wanted to check whether, when creating a new install disc usinc nLite, do I include all of the drivers that gore.m included in his driver pack or just some of them? Also, is this pack the most complete or have any others been posted in the intervening 18 months since gore.m's post.
Any help and advice greatfully received. -
1| It is hard to tell, you shoul download drivers which you have inside your FW.
2| Yes, you have to slipstream your XP. -
Im using FW for music too and I had to install XP because of my music HW.
You need all drivers for running XP on FW, but you need only AHCI driver for slipstream your XP.
You can have look to Vaio support, they maybe already released all drivers for FW|XP. But Im still runing my FW without problems with all drivers Ive posted above.
If anybody have updated pack, it can be very nice to post it here for us. -
Can I install these driver for win XP 64 bit SP2? My laptop is FW290.
Thanks
