I just received my custom fw190 w/ hicolor LCD last week and anytime the computer is on I hear a faint, but noticeable high pitch, or high frequency sound that seems to be coming from the LCD.
I thought maybe if I shifted the frequency it might help (?), but changing from 59 to 60 (only options) didn't seem to help.
My co-worker says he can't hear it, but maybe I have overly sensitive ears. What's strange is that when I close the laptop, I still hear it. I know I'm not crazy and there is definitely a high pitch frequency noise that hits me when I first turn it on.
Any help / advice / consolation is appreciated.
Still waiting for Sony rep to call me back...

Might be CPU whine. My TZ's Core 2 Duo had a really quiet, but still irritating high-pitched whine for the first few months I had it. The noise only occurred occasionally, depending on the CPU's current powerstate, I think. I was able to get rid of the sound by disabling "popup mode" using RightMark's CPU Clock Utility ( RMClock). I eventually stopped using the program, but haven't noticed the noise since.
Not sure if it's the same issue, but possible. Also, use RMClock at your own risk! =) -
Have had my FW190 with Hicolor for two months, and it is wicked quiet. Only time I hear anything is when the fan kicks in to overdrive when I am doing something resource intensive.
I would definitely have it checked out.
