1. Is it a solid notebook, any major issues?
2. I priced one out and was surprised by how low the price is. especially for a sony, would this be a good buy? Ill be using it for a little bit of everything.

I have the fw290 and it is great. I only wish the gpu was a bit more powerful. Still it's better than the defective nvidia 8600 (already replaced once) in my macbook pro.
We watch movies on our HDTV as well as the laptop display. Games are good if you stick med or med-high settings.
Mine was $1099 after upgrades and has the 2.26 CPU. You should be fine. -
