I tried the BIOS update R3110Y0 for my FW490 CTO (FW490J) and when it runs it says that "this update is not intended for your computer model."

The name of the file is AIBSYS-00208407-US.EXE and the release date is 10/19/2009

    ANyone had any luck?

Mine said the same thing. Then I used Universal Extractor to extract the actual update program from inside the Sony installer, and when I ran it directly it worked great. I now have the option for VT in the BIOS! I haven't tested it yet though. I need to download the XP mode stuff for Windows 7.
