FW490 CTO Student Discount 5%, NOT 7%?

I keep reading here in the forums and other coupon sites that there's 7% off when purchasing through the education site (student discount), but in reality it's only 5%.

Anyone got 7% off with this model?

I live in NYC, just ordered it before the sales tax increase from 8.375% to 8.875%.

Why not shoot an email to [email protected] and ask them how to get the full 7% -- or at least for them to post the list of which notebooks qualify for the full 7%.

I agree; that's very strange. It is a bit misleading for Sony not to be clear on that especially since, in the past, that was always the case on the FW line: 7% on new, 10% at the Outlet (and sometimes an additional 15% in the Outlet if you happened to catch one of their surprise sales).

Let us know what you hear back. Ask for the 7% and request that they change the Website if the 7% is no longer available. Don't take no for an answer; escalate to a higher level of Sony management if you get the brush-off.

I think it's only for certain notebooks. I orderd a SR with the student discount and it was also only 5%. I don't think all of their notebooks are 7% off.

 

I think its only the Z series (and possibly the TT) that is 7%.
As Jennifer said, the SR is only 5% and i'd imagine it gets less the lower in the series you go.
