The sony website states the SZ supports a maximum of 2GB of RAM. However, I installed 3GB in my SZ430N and it recognized all of the memory. A good thing since Vista makes better use of memory and loves lots of it :)

well I already had the memory and it took me all of 2 minutes to test it. sorry for providing a little information without searching and making absolutely sure no one had mentioned it before. of course we have to you "police" the boards. that is what makes this a "great" place.

This may seem like a stupid q ... but I'm assuming a SZ48GN/C will also recognise a max of 3GB RAM - reason I want confirmation is so I don't dish out $200+ on a stick I may not be able to use?

Also, would the motherboard be able to run 2 x 2GB RAM on dual-channel even tho Vista Biz doesn't support more than 3GB?

Do a search for the other threads here on what your max would be (it could be up to 3.5GB under 32-bit), but yes, your European SZ will be able to recognize the 2GB DIMM.

Will it run at full dual channel if you have 2x2GB? Don't know.
