Ordered and received a FZ4000. I like it. Nice computer but I was trying to search for an answer as to why the headphone volume is so low at max. I find it very faint. Is there any way to fix this? I read about a fix on the older FZ model, but it doesnt work on this one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes I have the same notebook and the same problem. Speaker and headphone volume are both quite low but I don't know of anything that can be done about it. Just turn it all the way up I guess.

I guess I just have to live with it. Maybe other people dont find it so bad.
Thanks for the reply. -
Only the built-in speaker volume is too low. Headphone volume is good. Get a good headphone. I am using a panasonic h/p.

The headphone volume has a lot to do with both the impedance and the efficiency of the headphones. The built in amp is only able to put out x amount of power. If the headphones present a higher load on the amp the volume will suffer. Likewise if for a given watt of power the headphones are only capable of giving a low decibel level the volume suffers.
With the original drivers it was possible to invoke a "loudness" setting. This provided an eq curve that gave an apparent volume boost. But after I installed the newer drivers in anticipation of installing SP1 that setting disappeared.

I am using Bose in ear headphones. They work really good with my Ipod. Maybe thats the problem. I will try another pair.

You are correct. I just tried the headphones that came with the Ipod and they are loud. Really appreciate it. Thanks.
