I've come across a problem here and it is either something really simple that I'm overlooking or something really complicated.

I've been looking for a small shelf cd player and much to my delight, I ran across the Sony CMT-BX5BT (Bluetooth) so I figured it was perfect for me since I could stream music from my laptop. The unit came in today and it plays fine. It's crystal clear and fits perfectly where I want it to, BUT...

I've went through all of the steps of pairing the devices and entering the passcodes and such, but whenever I try to use the system's Bluetooth function, the remote for the CD player will select the track on my laptop and then play it through the laptop speakers instead of the shelf unit's speakers. At the moment, I guess I have a $130 Bluetooth remote for my laptop, lol.

    Nevermind... I'm an idiot.

I've been fighting with this thing for the last 3 hours and then 10 minutes after I post, I figure it out.

The lesson learned here is to always post for help immediately when you can't figure something out and you'll figure it out.

    *sighs*

A good friend of mine used to call this the "janitor rule". If you work on a problem for more than 15 minutes, grab the first warm body that walks by even if it's the janitor. Explain the problem to the person and 9 out of 10 times the solution will occur to you as you explain the problem.

Now please share your solution so the next poor soul who comes along and sees the question will know the answer too!

I'm almost ashamed to... wait a minute, I AM ashamed to share the solution.

I opened the playback properties through the volume icon on the task bar and set the shelf system as the default playback.
