After reading reports today that custom FZ's are showing up earlier than expected, I'm even more peeved than before. I ordered mine on May 19 in person in the Sonystyle store and paid with a Sony credit card. But when it came up for production on June 14, the credit card company raised a fraud alert and wouldn't honor the charge. So what did Sony (the fabulous technology company) do? They cancelled my order completely. No chance to fix the original order - go to the back of the line.

So after about 8 hours on the phone with central customer service and the store manager, the order was placed again yesterday (4 days after the problem) and Sony won't offer any compensation whatsoever. I can't even get them to pay for express shipping to make up for the delays they caused by cancelling my order.

If anyone has contact information for executive customer service or any hints to get them to pony up for express shipping, I would certainly like to hear it. As it stands now I won't see my new FZ until sometime next month.

That sucks! A similar situation happened to me when I first ordered a new Apple MBP online.

I was flagged for an excessive/abnormal charge (fraud alert), then called my credit card company (Chase) to verify the purchase and finally called Apple to complete the transaction. Everything was cool though, Apple was ready to proceed with the order without delay (they actually offered expedited shipping and $50 off), but I decided to cancel and go directly to an Apple Store. Good customer service is invaluable. That was about two weeks ago and everything worked out great. So I guess our situations started in similar fashion but panned out with entirely different resolutions.

The FZ looks very nice, I'm sure it will prove to be worth the wait :).

Try to cancel your order and see if Sony offers any discounts. Also, when you order over the phone you should be able to get a better price than SonyStyle.com, just ask the salesperson.
