I would have posted this in the FZ Owner's thread but I fear it may need some immediate consideration from the Sony community.

I JUST opened my new FZ4000 CTO yesterday and have logged about 6 hours on it so far. Loaded some new software, uninstalled a butt-load of bloatware, and did some remote business work.

I used my optical drive for the first time just now and I noticed that this thing is LOUD. Like it sounds like there is some resistance in there. It is louder than any notebook optical drive I have used before. I popped the drive back out and noticed that when fully extended, this drive is quite loose. I have no idea if this is abnormal because all laptop ejectable drives seem to have a little bit of play, but this one seems to be more loose than the hp dv9000 series laptop I'm sitting beside.

I've got the Blu-Ray read drive btw.

Has anyone else found this with their FZ or other Vaio notebook?

Mine has a bit of "give" in it but it's not loud when spinning.

It's an expensive bit of kit so if it's unusually loud it may be worth getting onto sony about it.
