I just tried to downgrade from Vista to Xp Pro Sp2 on my Vaio FZ445D/B.
I slipstreamed the drivers for the FZ19 with nLite into my XP Pro SP2 cd found at this link:
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/OS/XPDOWNGRADE/FZ19/
everything went awry when I tried to install XP. I got three errors in the install process for files that the installer couldnt copy:
ntshared.chm
wbdbase.nld
advapi.dll
I selected the option to ignore the inability of the installer to copy these files. Then the installer finally quit with the message that ADVAPI.DLL is not found.
any ideas what I did wrong? as far as I have read the drivers for the FZ series are all pretty much the same, esp the SATA drivers.

I'm not sure what you did wrong, but it might just work out better if you installed xp and then got your drivers straight from Sony. Just my $0.02 though...

I tried this again with another slipstreamed cd, this time with just the SATA driver. XP installed ok this time, but there is lots no working. I need drivers for:
audio device on high definition audio bus
ethernet controller
mass storage controller
modem device on high definition audio bus
network controller
sm bus controller
video controller
video controller (vga)
I have to hunt around for these, there arent any details about drivers in device manager.
