Out of the box my FZ had a tiny grey spot in the lower right corner of the lcd. Also the backlighting seems to be uneven in the lower right and left edges of the lcd. Anyone ever noticed this? What could be the problem with the lcd? All these are apparently visible in a full white/black screen.

things look fine to me.

Is the tiny grey spot 1 pixel? or more than that?
Use a program like Dead Pixel Buddy
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/Dead-Pixel-Buddy.shtml
to figure out if its a dead pixel and how big it is.
You probably want to call up Sony and tell them about this and see if they are willing to exchange the laptop. -
So I think I can live with that. -
problems usually don't look for you, it's you who looks for the problems

I have a LITTLE "rolloff" in brightness in both lower corners, but no dark spots. But that is the nature of LCD displays, there is no way you are ever going to avoid SOME rolloff near the edges.

This is a new topic: I bought a reconditioned Vaio SZ 330 on the internet. After one day of use or so, it developed vertical lines on the screen, then a very large grey place along with them. I think this is a dead pixel issue. Caused by bad transistors, is this right? I am trying to get my money back from the vendor and he says I damaged the laptop, which I didn't. Any ideas about this problem? I know that Sony has known screen issues. Thanks. Sowana

Don't try to re-kindle my LCD issue Sowana. I forgot about this long time back.
