Out of the box my FZ had a tiny grey spot in the lower right corner of the lcd. Also the backlighting seems to be uneven in the lower right and left edges of the lcd. Anyone ever noticed this? What could be the problem with the lcd? All these are apparently visible in a full white/black screen.

It's not dead pixel. It is barely noticeable when viewed straight. I can see when I view the screen from left. Nobody will notice that unless I tell them.
So I think I can live with that.

Lol this is my 4th notebook (returned 3 due to problems). So it's obvious for me to look out for problems.

I have a LITTLE "rolloff" in brightness in both lower corners, but no dark spots. But that is the nature of LCD displays, there is no way you are ever going to avoid SOME rolloff near the edges.

This is a new topic: I bought a reconditioned Vaio SZ 330 on the internet. After one day of use or so, it developed vertical lines on the screen, then a very large grey place along with them. I think this is a dead pixel issue. Caused by bad transistors, is this right? I am trying to get my money back from the vendor and he says I damaged the laptop, which I didn't. Any ideas about this problem? I know that Sony has known screen issues. Thanks. Sowana

Don't try to re-kindle my LCD issue Sowana. I forgot about this long time back.
