This question had been originally posted in the FZ Owner's discussion but hasn't had many replies.

I guess there are a few people who will be interested in the answers (including myself) so I've taken the liberty of re posting:

I did not want to create a new thread so perhaps someone can see this here and reply if they know anything. I read this very interesting note on 2 future models to the FZ series:

    http://news.portalit.net/fullnews_Two-New-Sony-VAIO-Laptops-Unveiled_2968.html

Does anyone know how much truth to this there is? $1299/1399 for these incredible specifications? Surely the blu-ray model has to be much more! I am going for the FZ160e this week from Sony Style and it will be around the range I mentioned above. But it will come with the Intel X3100 graphics card and no blu-ray.

What stands out at me is the price...even $1400 for a laptop of the same specifications as the FZ160e but with the T7500 processor seem too good to be true for a slick looking Sony Vaio.

By the way, anyone know when these laptops will come out? It just seems that you buy a laptop which is near top of the line and all of a sudden new models come out. Technology these days is just moving so fast, especially with Sony.

also there is link to sony business site, however, it's not out for sale yet.

what i think is... since currently sony is having alots of sale i believe they want to send out the old models as much as possible, then release new models? so i think it's going to be around next year or so.

You might be right. In narrowing down which FZ model I wanted, I reevaluated my usage and purpose (and budget since I'm a college student), and decided on the FZ160e which I will purchase this week. I asked a guy in the Sony Style store and he said that the price on all FZ models have been lowered by $100 and will stay that way for the rest of the duration that they are on the front line, which will be for quite some time (perhaps until the end of the year)

However those specifications are mind-blowing for a non-configurable priced laptop. $1400 for a model with an upgraded T7500 processor, dedicated nVIDIA graphics card, top of the line wireless card, and blu-ray! Unbelievable. Actually it is pretty unbelievable, especially for Sony. I expect the lower of these two models to be $1400 and the upper one to be close to $2000, if not barely over $2000.
