I want to try the Win 7 but would really like to finally use installed 4G RAM the problem are probably drivers and function keys (specially brightness, for me- must have) Before getting into try and error would like to hear from those who tried already.

You might want to use the search function, since there are existing threads about this.

I had installed Windows 7 64 bit and got everything to work. I can't make the special button to work in 64-bit.

Yep, that's because you are using the wrong search box. The "Search this forum" and "Search this thread" boxes do not allow two character terms like FZ for example. It is a STUPID, LAME, IGNORANT "feature" of the software used. (Can you tell I am not a FAN of that feature? ...big ol' grin...)

BUT, there is a way to accomplish our goal here. At the top of every page is a "search" drop down with two options. The first is "Google Search Forums", the second is just "search forums". If you use the FIRST one, you CAN use two character search terms. Try it with "FZ 64 bit" and see what you get.

The fn keys work including the brightness. But sometimes the keys stop responding after resuming from sleep.

I've had that under 32 bit Vista as well. It's rare, but when it does happen a log out and log in fix it. No need to re-boot.

I haven't had this issue in Vista 32-bit. The Vaio event service stops by itself upon resuming from sleep. Restarting the service solves this issue.
Do you have any idea about the utility that brings the "special button functionality"? I can't make this work in 64-bit Windows 7. The 64-bit version of Vaio Control center that I had installed only shows "Document zoom" as the special button.

Same here on Vista 32 very, very, very rarely the level gets stuck or the event service disables itself, weird indeed ???? Since I am aware of that by now just go to services fix it.
@Gary the search worked , I meant, found only "not working" reports about the subject.
