    I'm about to but the Vaio FZ38M with 8400m GT 256mb GPU.

    My question is does the gpu have DDR2 or DD3 memory????

    I'm also looking at the Vaio NR21Z.

    Does the 8400m GT 128mb in it have DD2 or DD3 memory?

    All 256MB 8400GT on FZ use GDDR3, AFIAK. I know mine can hit 800mhz without breaking the sweat - surely not DDR2. :)

    I have no idea about NR.

    it is GDDR3 , as I bought my HP , I checked the FZ also at my local , so it is GDDR3 , and also CR 's HD2300 with 128 mb was GDDR3.

    NR does NOT have any discrete graphics so it is shared ddr2.

    now , it is tought to find something with GDDR2 , I think Acer 4920g,4720g, 5520g,5720g,5920g , Toshiba A200(M200 had HD2400 with 256mb gddr3)and ASUS f8 , f3 ,a8 only have GDDR2(G1s had gddr3).
