    Greetings!
I have tried pretty much everything, but my Vaio FZ4000 CTO (nVidia 8400M GT) simply wont give 1920x1080 on my Sony Grand Wega KDF 60XS955 via HDMI. Somehow the sides of the screen are chopped off, and using the nVidia settings utility I can resize it to fit 1780x1020 or something like that. I have tried checking overscan/underscan on the TV, I have tried Rajesh's clean install guide ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/429745-windows-7-clean-install-guide-vaio-fz.html) but no luck. I am running 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Is this a known issue? Please help!
    Thanks,
    Kaushik

You need to check the settings in your TV. There shouldn't be problem for a 1920x1080 video through HDMI.

Does the Nvidia control panel show the 1920x1080 resolution setting?
Was the HDMI working properly with Vista?

Some googling tells to set your TV to "Just scan" (No overscan). What is the refresh rate of your TV? You need to make sure it matches with the one in the Nvidia control panel. You can also create a custom resolution/ refresh rate from the Nvidia control panel (Change resolution > Customize).

    Rajesh,
Thank You. You are absolutely correct, seems like the issue is with my TV and not the laptop itself. I just figured that the chopoff of sides happens with my PS3 hooked up to the TV as well, I just never knew that it was happening for the PS3 before until I carefully looked into it. I guess I will check the TV manual and wish for good luck.
    Thanks again,
    Kaushik
