I am using Sony VGN-FS 980. After a month I bought this laptop I am having problem while playing any audio/video/DVDs in any player (windows or real). Whenever I play a file, it starts sounding like brrrrrr and the files skips between. I have installed latest versions of both windows media and real player but the problem still persist. Please help how to resolve this problem.

Hi I think that I am having the same problem.

I have a Sony VAIO VGN FS742/W laptop, and it seems that most audio/video files seem to hesitate and skip. Doesn't matter if it is on the hard drive or from a disk.

At first, I thought it was a RAM issue, so I went out and bought a 1 gig stick, and replaced one of the 256MB sticks, but it didn't help. There appears to be a correlation between the skips and spikes in CPU. Does this happen to you?

Then I did a system restore to original factory settings, but I am still having the same problem.

Did you happen to come across a solution?

    Please advise.
