    Hi,

my once "just noisy" fan has turned into a full on raging noisy beast. It kicks in constantly, even when i sit the laptop on a stand (and blow cool air at it occassionally) and it is driving me mad.

The bad news is that i have just had the machine cleaned serviced a month ago and they said all looked fine - i had asked them to look at the fan/area.

Any thoughts, advice or comments on this really appreciated. Is it normal?

    thanks
    dave

My SZ fan got so loud it was like a jet engine. I read a post on here that said to apply some WD40 to it and I tried that and it worked perfectly. I was really surprised the difference was amazing... it was like it was brand new again.

i suppose it'd be the rotating parts (ie micro bearings of the fan)

Well it's kind of hard to see. On mine I removed the bottom panel and if you look inside at the right angle you'll see what looks like a small green printed circuit board directly above where axle would be. You have to apply it right underneath that. It's a really small space and on mine I got it on top too which is probably unavoidable but it works well and I haven't had a problem since. Granted this is on an SZ so yours might be in a different spot.
