Can someone please comment on the fan noise level of the new FZ4000. Has this issue been fixed.

I bought an FZ290 which is an awesome machine all round, but the erratic fan noise is annoying. It is very audible in a quiet room or at night when I am web surfing in bed. I won't mind returning it for an fz4000 and paying a little more, if the fan noise has been fixed.

    Thanks

I have a new FZ4000 and it does have an erratic fan noise.
It's a lot louder than my Sony FS750.
i just thought it was normal for the processor that I have.

What sort of surface is it on when you have it in bed? If it is on a soft surface, the bottom vents may be blocked and the fan noise WILL go up dramatically.

Its loud on a flat surface and/or on my lap. When I turned it on this morning, the fan noise was loud from the word go. But I was running spybot and ant-virus at the same time...

Not to hijack this thread, but if anyone has Vista 64-bit Ultimate running in their FZ please
give me some feedback. I'm finding the drivers very hard to find.

I have the T8300 2.4 CPU in my FZ4000 and the fan noise is much less than the SZ460 it replaced. There is some quiet cycling up/down sometimes but it doesn't really bother me. Closing sidebar always helps immensely for any fan noise. I am very happy with my Penryn 2.4GHz FZ as far as noise and heat goes.

Maybe it has to do with which speed CPU you choose?

I'm very, very happy with the T9500 (2.6GHz) CPU and the overall speed of this FZ4000! The fan noise is louder than my previous computers but it does not bother me.
