I have been experienced a really annoying fan on my brand new Vaio cs11s laptop.

The exhaust fan is speeding up to a clearly audible level once every 10 seconds or so. It keeps spinning for about 1 second and then stops. Between that it is completely silent. If i put my ear against the fan it seems that it's not spinning at all between between spinning up. This behaviour is really anoying.

By using a temperature monitoring software (RMClock) I have discovered that the fan turns on at aproximately 38.5 degrees celcius and cools the computer to about 37 degrees. Then it stops and it takes about 10 seconds for the temperature to rise again and the fan restarts.

Is there a way of making the fan spin at a low speed all the time to prevent this? All outher laptops I have owned have had the fan running at a very low speed as the default and then increased the speed slower to cool the computer when it heats up. It now seems that there are only a few modes for the fan. Completely silent under 38,5 degrees celcius and almost full speed when going above that.
