Just a heads up for anyone with a tired fan in an SZ. Mine has been getting louder and louder over the past month, despite repeated cleanings. I have never worked on a computer before, but was able to change the fan myself using the owners manual (pdf file i found on here).

I ended up buying a brand new fan directly from Sony for around $75 plus tax/shipping. This was cheaper than most online vendors, so i would recommend getting it directly from the source. You also have to redo a 3 heat sinks, so make sure you get some compound (Arctic Silver 5 at radioshack for $9). You will also need a really small phillips head screwdriver for a few of the screws.

It took me about 4-5 hours, but i took my time and made notes of where things went in case i forgot. For those who don't know, to get to the fan you have to remove the mother board and there's a LOT of stuff in the way. I couldn't believe how much dust was in there! So another benefit was being able to clean everything up inside.
