    Hello,

I have a 4-month old Vaio FZ18E, which I've been more than happy with (once the hard disk stopped screeching!).

However, just now I've noticed that the plastic casing at the top of the screen is loose, right in the middle where the webcam is. It also happens to be in the spot where I open and close the lid (and would appear to be where I'm supposed to open/close it, due to the presence of a slight ridge).

Now it's not a major issue in that the screen doesn't work (I'm typing this message on it now), but I'm concerned that if 4 months of opening/closing has done that, what will happen in another 4?

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this happening?

    Cheers.

The thin casing on mine moves only very slightly up and down only in about a 3cm area though - on the right of the webcam. And yes, this the exact same position I open it too. Is your's very loose or just slightly? As the part of mine, only moves about 1mm either up or down.

Guess its just normal. You can't expect build quality to be top notch as this is a home entertainment laptop not business class like Lenovo's etc.
I don't think it'll get any worse tbh. People tend to buy new laptops every 2 - 3 years unlike desktops where they can last a lot longer.

Mine doesn't move up and down; it pushes in and makes a sort of squashing sound against the screen. I suppose in relative terms it is just slightly - it's not like I can push it right in to a 90-degree angle or anything.

It could well be that it's always been like that and I just haven't noticed it before. After initially wanting to get it seen to, I've realised it probably isn't that big a deal. The only real concern was that it could get worse.

    Cheers for the reply.
