actually, im just fed up with babying the dam thing, it seems like i go anal everytime i see a new micro scratch on the piano finish keyboard. Plus i don't like that fact that open the lid like im about to deactivate a bomb, I lift where the camera is and slow lift it up. It feels so fragile, i havn't really test it like bending it to see how much it and endure.

Anyone with a tz finally stop caring about those little things? I just want a laptop to use and not worry every second of usage that if i put my hands here ill scratch it and etc. I'm just about ready to stop giving a krap and just use it and not care about scratches.

any tips for avoidig unecessary scratch and smuches?

Well for smudges I put a small towel on my SZ. You can use the screen cloth that came with your TZ. Also try a keyboard protector.

I agree totally, especially with a beauty as this, I'd want to keep it as new looking as possible and Sony makes that difficult with the piano-black finish surrounding the keyboard and the black, matte keys that will become worn down and smooth in no time flat. I'll just have to get used to seeing tiny scratches and wear and tear on mine. Its just a notebook, its just a notebook, I'm not keeping it forever.

The previous TX was better in this regard with no glossy finish anywhere and smooth keys that didn't wear down. I'll live with it, since I will get a new notebook in one year max. Hope Sony can fix this in their next model, don't make notebooks so high-maintenance. ;)

yah its pretty annoying but like all things they get worn down with usage and then next thing you know you dont care anymore. The only way to make it look like it when you first got it is to put it in the box and never use it. If it bothers you that much you can always replace they glossy area if it gets too scratched up for like a 100 bucks comes with the palm rest and keyboard

for me, a tz with smudges, micro scratches, etc, is still more cool than any other notebook out there ... just don't be too fussy about minor cosmetics since no matter how well you keep it, it's bound to happen sooner or later ... just my 2 cts ...

Don't have to give a **** about this one. Sure it's not as pretty and it's lacking in specs, but it's even more portable and you can't feel bad if you smudge it.

    Same with me!
If you complain about this, you actually say: "this laptop is too beautiful to use", and thats just rubbish!

This laptop is quite durable. The hinges are really tough, the sreen is so hard but thin, and the ground-plate (i took all guts out when making the photos for my review... there IS one) will protect everything from getting pierced. Last its very light so a normal protection-bag will be enough.
Its not quite a butterfly ... talking about its toughness, but about its beauty, it is ;)

I know I almost clean my TZ every couple of days. I miss my TXN's keyboard and low gloss finish!
