Hello, I just recently purchased the SZ670, and am just wondering if someone knows how to remove the "fingerprint logon" box that appears when starting the comptuer beside the administrator log-on.
Its annoying having two boxes there when there is only me the registered user, and guest account is turned off.
If someone could help me remove just that box, it would be great.

Also, can someone let me know what programs that i can remove from the sony computer as it was loaded with a lot of crap ware that one will never use.

Any help getting my computer tweeked and running quickly would be great.

    Thank you

    Leems

You're in the Dell forum, so people here will likely not be familiar with your machine, though I'll give it a shot.

To remove the fingerprint logon, you can try to look through the Sony fingerprint software and disable it from there. If that doesn't do it, the only sure way I can think of off-hand is uninstalling the software - but then you'll lose the rest of its fingerprint-reader functionality.

Removing your Windows password should do the trick, too. Even better, you can just set auto-logon, and so you'll never see that fingerprint login prompt because Windows will just log you in automatically.

I'm in the Sony forum?!? Typo ... I own a sony

I'll try that, to find it in the sony security.

    Thanks for the tips though.

Why on earth did he think you were in the Dell forum?!? Maybe he's the newb and not you, lol?

On the startup screen it shows two different boxes; one for fingerprint identification and the other your profile, correct? Mine now does this too when I put it into sleep, but on startup it comes up as password protected (my profile is setup for a typed password) with just the single profile box. However, I can simply swipe my finger at that point too and it works fine as well, so I haven't quite figured it out either. Puzzling why it gives me the two different logon screens.

You do have password protection on for the administrator account, correct? If it is then it should only prompt the single profile and password (since you have the guest turned off). You could do like Dell boy Samuel613 says above and turn off user logons to where it automatically logs into the admin, and if you wanted a password from there you could set one up in the BIOS and it would prompt on startup and before windows. I wouldn't turn off the software or remove it, you may want it later on.

At this point it hasn't annoyed me to the point of where you are, but I simply either type my password or swipe it (I'm getting used to the biometrics, kinda handy). Let us know if you have any more questions or problems.

look for "protector suit ql" under "uninstall a program" in control panel.
