    Hi everybody,

I have a question for any FZ290 owners out there. I've been looking for this information everywhere and not even Sony tech support could answer it for me. So much for "Tech Support" I guess.

Essentially I'm looking for whether the firewire/cardbus chipset in the FZ290 is made by Texas Instruments or not. Something this simple is not even listed in the manuals for the computer in the sony support site.

The main reason for this question is that I'm thinking on buying this laptop (FZ290 prices have gone down significantly) and using it for mobile music production and having the Texas Instruments FW chipset in the laptop is pretty much a must have.

Can anybody help me get this information. I just checked the FZ280 today at the sony store and it had the TI chipset but they did not have FZ290 in display. The sales guy said that the 280 and 290 are essentially the same but I don't trust any sales guys to tell you the truth.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ed
