The one with the chrome bezel is not the S series, looks to be the new E series or C series and I believe all S series will be with an nviidia card and not amd.
-
Ugh I need a new laptop ASAP, when is the SA coming??
-
-
The notebook as main picture (and some as smaller pictures) with the chrome lining around the touchpad is the E series, the other pictures are of the S.
-
Have anyone seen/seen pictures of the left side? I'd like to know if Sony have added a microphone input.
-
darxide_sorcerer Notebook Deity
^ the one picture i saw had only one input on the left side, but it was clearly indicated to be a headphone+microphone jack by putting the picture of a headset (headphone+microphone) next to it. the current one has only the picture of a headphone if you look at it.
-
darxide_sorcerer is right about the s13 (only one input but combined). The s15 has a separated microphone and headphone input.
In germany this laptops will be available from week 23. (june 4th till june 10th) -
Then it looks like I "have to" upgrade if the touchpad is good enough.
-
I went to a Sony store today and apparently they have the new machines in stock but they can't show them until Monday which is when they'll be released
-
-
That one has a low voltage processor, its not the S15
-
-
Beaups or Eddideaus, any idea about the 2012 F series models ? Will there be a 3D vaio this year or not ??
-
-
avmaxfan
beaups has said that there won't be a 2012 F Series, and based on the fact that I have seen model names for the new S, E, T, L and Z series, but nothing new for F..I would have to agree, unless it is coming way later. -
S13 also seems to have arrived at Newegg. Search for SVS13 and you'll find two models, one which is in four different colors. All with Intel 4000 series integrated, no separate GPU, starting at $ 899.
No S13A models yet though. -
-
J/K Can't remember when they last used something exciting as a GPU. :/
I just hope that the 640 LE at least have GDDR5 memory... -
-
I went to the Sony Centre in Toronto and they had a new S 15 series on display. The texture is really strange and different, there is more grip on the case.
Nvidia graphics, etc. You know the specs.
What people are probably are wondering, the display!
Red/Orange issue is still there. I was able to take the S15 and display it right next to the older SE2. Went to MS Paint and the reds were identical.
Just thought people would like to know, it was a nice looking machine though. -
Was the lid any more rigid than the previous version? It felt like the older versions lid was more fragile and could be pressed into the keys easily

The lid felt more sturdy but not by much. It might have been due to the added grip. I use a laptop backpack and the current SE feels somewhat slippery compared to this new skin.
It wasn't officially on display, it was just lying there, I mistook it for some other model at first because it appeared more matte than the one I use every day.
If I go back I can run a test but I am not usually in that area. It's a Sony store attached to a performing arts centre that we were passing by looking for a washroom, looked pretty dead actually.
They said it should be in stores next week. -
It's DDR3 RAM
All the new models are up on Sony-Asia including the new Z Series, there's no S13A with Blu-Ray or WWAN when there previously used to be :-/ I think theya re trying to keep it away from Z Series in terms of positioning.
On a plus note, looks like the extended battery is backwards compatible, i.e. the slice battery from the SB and SA series works with the new S13 series and vice versa. -
I got to see one of these in person today. The 13" SA felt very nice, keyboard was great. Screen quality was AWFUL though, but granted, it was a 1366x768 resolution. I really hope they have a 1600x900 option and that it's a quality screen.

AnandTech - NVIDIA's GeForce 600M Series: Mobile Kepler and Fermi Die Shrinks
Unless some review already confirmed it is fermi? -
Anyone enough crazy to buy S15
? I'm wondering what about the LOUD, BATTERY LIFE and SCREEN (hope is no damn red/orange issue, which stopped me to buy SE1).
-
-
Oh My God, so i have to put away Sony again
...
-
The new Vaios are available on Sony's website now:
Sony VAIO Laptops Desktops Computers PCs | Sony Store USA
I don't see any WWAN options though, I thought they would support Gobi cards... -
as always nothing on sony canada yet
-
-
Same here. The new SA series is way too expensive. No wonder Sony is crashing and burning fast.
-
HP Envy 15 3200 (just released today) is much better IMO. Better price, better battery life (without using the slice battery on the Sony), better graphics card and similar design/sleekness. -
-
I wish HP would clear up all this confusion. -
-

there is only one 15" IPS panel manufacturer, and that is LG; hence the wide-spead Orange-gate. unless LG fixes it, nothing SONY or HP do can ever remedy this situation.
besides, there are two GPU options for 640m LE: a 1GB version and a 2GB version. are they both DDR3'ed GPUs or the higher-rated one uses GDDR5? -
AnandTech - NVIDIA's GeForce 600M Series: Mobile Kepler and Fermi Die Shrinks
if the site is correct, then it can be either kepler or fermi, nvidia's site doesn't really go into much detail

Any final words on display quality? Comparing new S13A to SA13 & Z?
-
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
So any news regarding someone with some nasty thumbdrive equipped with hwinfo64 and gpuz got some glamour shots of the s13? I think a lot of us want to find out if the 640m le is kepler or fermi
+rep for anyone who does the deed -
Nothing here in the UK yet, typical.
Looking at the pictures the design seems identical to the previous S13 generation. Any idea if the display panel still partially blocks the exhaust when open? -
A member on the forum has the 15.5" S with the 640M LE. I've asked him to enlighten us with some GPUZ info
http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/668343-new-laptop-diablo-iii-2.html
He posted that it's running at 500mhz so it looks like it should be Kepler.
Although knowing how much Sony loves to torture us, it is entirely likely that they put different GPU's in the 15.5 vs the 13.3 lol, D: -
Well, the 15.5 is Kepler! Hopefully the 13.3 is the same. If the S had a Z quality screen, I'd be all over it
-
-
I found out the exhaust isn't really blocked when the display is all the way open, as the "blocking" part is actually curved, so there is still some clearance. Not optimal, but still okay.
-
I don't know if it's going to make real difference, but I've been looking at pictures of the new S series on NewEgg and noticed new vents on the right side, under the card readers and under the USB doors.
It's easily to see them in zoomed pictures: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834127673 -
