Does anyone know how to turn it off? I found this thread after using search:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=47932&

But the last method where people with the SZ tried to mute the Event Service by making it showup with the Fn key doesn't seem to work on my TZ..

    Anyone have any ideas?

    You have two options:

    1. Rename or delete the pi.wav file located in the VAIO Event Service directory in \Program Files\Sony.

    2. Depending on the VES that's on your notebook, you may have an option to disable that sound when you attempt to repair/uninstall it. If you don't see that option, you'll need reinstall VES stripped from the model verifier with Universal Extractor. You won't see the option in the installation wizard to disable the beep when you run the VES installer directly.

In the AML Setting where you add programs to the launcher, there's a setting to disable the sound under the Others tab.
