    Hi guys!

I've seen that many users have problems with VAIO camera, trying to open the program. I also had this problem, every time I tried to open the VAIO Camera Capture Utility, I got this message:

"An attempt to initialize the camera failed."

So I ran into the net to search for a solution and I found this site. But I could fix the problem doing this: open MSconfig( for Vista users, go to Start menu and type msconfig in the search box, an go to Startup tab ). Windows Vista startup the camera for itself, so when you try to open the program you get this message. I disabled the camera from starting up and problem solved. I didn't have to update anything or disable/enable the device. So far I didn't have problems with the camera again.

I hope this could help all of you.

How do you mean "disabled the camera from starting up" ?

    Disable VCUServ in msconfig?

Hey I just found another way to fix the problem.... I just don't know if it's gonna work every time I start Vista...

but I did this: I made the Vaio Camera CApture Utility to startup with Windows again, but I disabled and removed it in Windows Defender... this way the program won't appear in the msconfig list... but I have Vista... I don't know exactly how to do this on XP...

    now it's working fine...

I get this message as well, but I found the perfect solution - restart it (with Vista) and it will solve. Has worked many times so far. :) Don't know why it would suddenly not work cause it was working like a second before and when I tried to use it again and it won't run again.

    Then I just restart it.

Lol, I still have problems with this program... tried many things, but I just can't find the solution... sometimes i works, sometimes it doesn't... I even tried to call Sony Support but the only thing they said to do was to restore my system...
