I've notice a dark spot today on my 45 days old Z... it's very subtle but noticeable over light/white background especially when looked at at an angle.
I've tried rubbing it with no luck.
The screen is perfectly clean and scratch free. There are no dead pixels whatsoever...
not sure what to do... probably going to contact sony but sending laptop for repairs is a pain for me since i'm using it for work... i wish i could return it. :(

anyone else have similar spot on their screen or this is just my luck?

    BTW, it's 1600x900

You'll need to find an angle to see it...

My laptop has dark spots around the corners as does my LCD TV. Seems to be common within LCD panels. But you could try to contact Sony and see what they say, I'm not sure if they can do much. They can's send a tech out? But have you tried maybe changing the brightness back and forth? Or restarting?

I never noticed dark spots before. My TZ had a perfect screen with not spots or dead pixels.
I've tried everything, even tried to gently "rubbing" this spot... :)

I can't say since i just noticed it. Since it's barely noticeable, it might had been there since the day one... In any case I know it's there now and it kinda bothers me a bit... grrrr.

yeah, it's hard to make a photo of the screen... and yes, it's barely noticeable since there are no dead pixels more like a dirty spot but inside...

I've had a similar issue with my z and they will be sending a tech to my house to replace the screen.

Are tech home visits covered under regular sony's 1 year warranty or you need an extended warranty for this?
