I've tried to Google and search the forums for more information on how to remove the Recovery Partition on my Vaio Z and add it to my C:\ drive but haven't really been able to find a good resource. Most of what I see are people trying to get it back after deleting it, I have a clone of my drive so I'm not worried about this. Or I find instructions that are dated that don't appear to work with the way things are setup on the Z.

I read a post, I wasn't able to find again, where somebody used third party software to delete the hidden partition and re-arrange the other partitions so they could extend the C:\ drive to fill up the extra space without having to format and reinstall. Does moving a partition "to the front" really matter for a SSD setup? I'm just curious if there is an easy, tried and true, way to accomplish this that has worked for somebody here. Free software would be a plus :D

There are different ways to do what you want. You can go into your command prompt and delete the recovery partition via diskpart and delete the recovery partition. Then go into disk management, right click the c drive and extend volume. This will take the unallocated space and add it to you c volume.

Another easier way is to download the free version of Easus and delete the recovery partition, drag the arrow until the volume is down to 0, then drag the arrow from the c volume to add that unallocated space to the c volume. Restart your computer and Easus will do it's magic and add the unallocated space to the c volume.

    good luck

Your manual also explains how to remove the recovery partition once you've burned recovery disks. Sorry, I haven't got a copy to hand so I can't tell you which chapter but a quick search will find it.

Well I had been able to delete the partition, but the only thing I could do was format it because the option to extend the C partition was grayed out. I think the issue I had might have been that the reserved system space was in between the unallocated space and the C partition, with C at the end of the disk.

EASUS very simply let me move the system to the front, put C right after it, and extend it to the end of the drive. Thanks for the suggestion Mokeiko!

I'm glad you got it sorted out. I was in the same situation and got the idea from another forum member's post about using Easus. Enjoy the extra space.
