I was wondering of Fresh Start was worth the Vista Business upgrade. Does Fresh Start simply remove trial software (I think I can just do this via add/remove programs, if I'm not mistaken) or does it also remove the unnecessary VAIO software?
Or, is there a way to "clean up" the laptop after taking out of the box?
Interested in the Sony SR490.

I chatted with an online Sony sales support dude so completely take this with a huge grain of salt....
He was telling me that it wipes the Vaio software including the support for the media controls at the top of the keyboard. Basically he was trying to tell me that if I had ANY interest in watching movies on the 490 that Fresh Start would disable that and be a bad idea. I rolled my eyes a bit, but that's what he was saying. I'm sure there are drivers to get that stuff working on Sony Support, I imagine. -
Fresh Start removes everything basically except Windows so it's like if you did a clean install. Mind you, there's a guide around NBR on how to do clean installs, you just need an installation disc and lots of time on your hands.
I am surprised Sony would actually discourage Fresh Start thoughs icne it costs more and well, they make more money lol -
Clean installs are basic. Get a "clean" copy of OS of choice from a friend or w/e, install, wait 20-30 minutes, find and install drivers, done.

Not worth the extra money. Just clean it yourself.
Fresh Start worth it?
