I am going to order a F12 Series laptop and was wondering if i should select the fresh install option, will the laptop still come with the quick access web browser and simple vaio features? Or will i have to Download from the sony site? I don't mind losing the other bloatware and Adobe stuff since i can get them back easily if i needed them.

I got the Adobe package. I felt that the software being offered was worth it for me.

My experience with no fresh start - About 14 seconds to power down, and about 45 seconds to boot up. Maybe I could boot up a few seconds faster? Who knows? But on the whole this z12 is working so fast as it is I'm not actually concerned.

However, I do appreciate the option and think it's a classy move on Sony's part.

I got Fresh Start on my Z11 and I'm not sorry I did. You still get the essential Vaio programs like Control Panel and Recovery. You just sacrifice all the media junk and stuff like that.

IMO, a service that offers a "fresh start" from an OEM... lol. Buy it, stick the Windows 7 disk in it, wipe it clean, then start fresh.

For those who already have a VAIO that they wished had a clean install, check out
Vaio F Series Windows 7 64-bit Clean Install Using OEM Recovery Discs
    from Joe Bleau

He went to the trouble of given his opinion/function of most of the Sony programs and it served as a very sensible guide to help me clean up my new VAIO F11. Went from idling at 46% RAM usage down to 30%

Manufacturers are paid to include those programs, thereby lowering the cost of Windows. This is why you pay to have a "clean" install from them. This software can lower the cost of Windows by $50-$100 or more. In some cheap systems today, Windows is the most expensive item in it.

I do agree though, doing a clean install yourself is much better, you get an actual disk, you can redo everything when and how you want, and you have an actual repair disk if your drive fails.
