I've been desperately needing 2nd laptop lately, because my Acer serves its duty as Media Center, so first I tried refurbished Dell XPS 1530 and while it was nice, I didn't feel like it was for me. Now I found a good deal on refurbished Sony FZ290 and I am pretty excited.

    It was $1k + taxes

    T7500 2.2
    2GB Ram
    200GB HD 5400 rpm
    BluRay
    HiColor display

Everything else seems to be standard

Does anyone know if there are any differences between FZ290 and FZ4000?

    Hi,

Why did you sell the Dell 1530 ? Main reason ?

I was just thinking of buying the same model.

just personal preferences, it's nice machine otherwise. I got a better deal on FZ.

But, things I didn't like were: the touchpad, sloppy build, noise from hard drive due design...

If you care about accurate colors, I wouldn't go for the FZ HiColor screen. I'd stick with XBrite-ECO. The HiColor display's colors are OFF--green grass looks almost flourescent. Skin looks yellow. Sony needs to fix this.
