I have a Vaio Z, and I was wondering if it was possible to set the brightness to 100% automatically when plugged in and have it change when not plugged in (and maintaining around 70% of maximum when not plugged in under power plan).

under CP->power options->change plan settings --> Change advanced power settings ---> Adv Tab ---> Display --> Display Brightness. You can modifiy the default plugged in and battery settings.

Yeah, but that's still somewhat overriden by the "detect ambient light and modify display" thing. I want it to always be at 100% (except when dimmed) when on battery, but at 75% at maximum and dimming/brightening when not plugged in.

Sorry, I'm probably missing something.. You have auto-brightness disabled, right?
