My SR has a sticker that says this, what does it mean?

Does it mean that I can output this 1080p resolution onto an HD TV via HDMI? What exactly will appear as 1080p resolution?

But how can this thing output that kind of display??

If I play a DVD, will the DVD play at 1080p on the TV?? I thought DVDs were only 720p...

It doesn't mean anything. I saw that sticker on a Sony FZ series. But it only came with a 1280*800 screen.

Yes, if your HDTV is 1080p then your laptop can output 1080p. Just connect your laptop with a hdmi cable (I'm not sure if the SR series has a hdmi port) or DVI or VGA.

No, DVDs are 480p. But they will play fine on a 1080p screen. It's like pressing the full screen button on your media player.

It just means (in this instance) you can output 1080p content, and view it on a 1080p capable screen.

    Yes, 1080p content.

Some HD clips can be found on the internet. If you have a Blu-ray drive, then you can get 1080p content.

This depends on the software you use to play the DVD. If you intend on hooking your laptop to the 1080p screen, then what you should see is more desktop space. When you play a DVD, the software can play it in 480p or scale it to full screen.

    DVDs are 480p.

I would think you could connect an external Blu-Ray drive and play movies at 1080p on an external monitor.
