Hello, I bought Full HD display, but I was dissapinted when I connected it to my laptop and found out that i cant set the full hd resolution and that only other 16:9 is 1366x768 which is the same as the laptops display.
Is this hardware problem (TZ240 does not support full hd resolution) or is something wrong with my video drivers?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've used 1680x1050 with my TX with the factory drivers, so maybe it is just a matter of a windows setting?

I have no problem with setting 1680x1050. But I need Full HD resolution - 1920x1080. This resolution is native for my dispay and other resolutions stretch and deform the image.

Hmm.. Don't know about the TZ, but I just tried 1920x1080 with the TX on HDTV and it doesn't go that high. Maybe it is a hardware limitation, maybe check with intel documentation for that particular chipset?

Some TV's only output full HD resolution through HDMI only. So if you dont have a HDMI out on your notebook your might be out of luck.

My friend has some small touchscreen Asus laptop with Intel graphics too (idk the type) and when he connects his laptop to my LCD through VGA he can set 1920x1080. I can't

I cant get my TZ190 to do 1080p either.

What if you get one of those USB display extenders?

As far as i know TZ's don't output any higher than 1680x1050 via the VGA. TT's might be capable of 1920 via the HDMI though. Your friend's ASUS might be a newer intel chipset, maybe one of the beefier ones (GS45, a mobile version of the 4500HD, etc.) the intel 945/950 might not be capable of that external res.

umm tahts too bad :( but you know what is strange? i use windows 7. i uninstalled intel drivers and i let windows download some drivers from win update. then i could choose from more resolutions than normally. i chose one extra large and nothing happend it just switched to 800x600. but then i chose something x 1200 and it worked, for a while i had better resolution than 1050, but after a while laptop totaly froze and after restart those hi-res options were gone. i was not halucinating, my friend saw it too :)

I am not sure if this is going to work or help but have you ever tried the program "ultramon" ? I remember having a similar problem a long time ago and I was able to "force" a screen resolution using this program.

The Intel 945 chipset supports up to 2048x1536 resolution, but your laptop with Intel 945 chipset doesn't.

I have just tried that external display in Linux Ubuntu 8.10 Live CD. It works fine. Full HD resolution with no problems. I dont get why it can not work in windows. Sony sucks!

Using powerstrip I was able to get 1920*1200 out of my TZ. Without it the highest resolution i could push the slider to was 1600*1200. So it is possible but you have to create a custom timing/resolution within powerstrip for the external monitor.

That Powerstrip is kinda complicated. How should I do it to set the Full HD resolution?
