    Hey Zoink,
I am very interested in learning more about the ability to upgrade the memory and SSD. Are you planning on doing so? Is there any challenges that you can think of on top of your head? If there is anything that I can possibly help out with, please let me know. Thanks.

After reading the sony informations about the Windows 8 Upgrade, i´m not sure about the following part:

Power Media Dock: (VPCZ2 series and SVZ series)
o You will need to shut down your computer when connecting or disconnecting the Power Media Dock.
o The Power Media Dock graphic accelerator isnot supported for the main display.

Does this mean there is no function for the ATI chip in the PMD with Windows 8? Also, shut down system for connection of PMD isn´t really a good thing i think..

If you use the leshcat driver it'll function, but for me W8 stayed in Test mode which really is just a water mark.

It's just not working the way it did with W7, which is why Beaups implied that the SVZ isn't officially sold with W8 as an option and is being discontinued.

    You can either
    A) Just load up the latest Intel driver for integrated graphics and use the PMD as an expensive docking station for USB ports/ODD

    or

    B) Load up Leshcat drivers and get it work but just a bit buggier than it was with W7 (having to power down to switch graphic modes)

Ok, so i´ve to think about using leshcat driver. I´m now installing windows 8 over my current windows 7 installation and will see whats working.
Is it possible to use external screens connected with the pmd with intel boxed driver?

Lets try to combine any Windows 8 + Vaio Z2 related topics in this thread, in order to have one single and focused one:

Sorry I did not mean to post here but in the owners thread. This review is what made me jump the gun and buy a Z2 recently for what I consider a steal. I especially like the portion on fan speed that gave remarks on more that low speed and high speed, but with actually usage scenarios.

    Thank you,
    Dan

Hi, I want to get an external monitor to use specifically with this display. Can I get a dell monitor with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, and use it with this laptop? I've been cautioned to research whether the laptop will output this resolution or not. Will the sony output that resolution via the hdmi out? Also, what version hdmi does the sony have?
