I'm having a lot of troubles installing the drivers of this thing. I've tried reading the threads a few pages down, but no luck.

My bluetooth needs drivers which I don't have
My webcam refuses to work! The drivers say Its not the right model.
My video card drivers REFUSE to install. I tried getting them from Nvidia, but no luck.

    Any help please!

You may wish to say a bit more about what you are doing. Why are you installing these drivers? Didn't they come preinstalled? Are you switching to a different OS or something? Tell us a bit more please.

I have Vista Business edition, but I felt like there was too much junk in it. I reinstalled it into Vista Ultimate. I didn't expect to have these driver problems.

Does reinstall mean you started by reformatting or just upgraded? I would suspect if you had upgraded, the drivers would have "hung around" through the process and all would be well with your soul. Check out the Sony support site where you should find the drivers you need, I would imagine.

I reformatted my whole hard drive. I've tried going to Sony. Their drivers don't install. It says wrong model name. :(

I did a fresh install on my Japanese vaio SZ and had no problems at all.

You could try downloading the drivers from vaio.eu. They have all the drivers in one package, the SZ5 ones should have all the drivers you need (or just lookup the model with the same specs).

    Drivers:

    Utilities:
    http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/down...5_Utilities.zip&ip=Preinstalled_Utilities.htm

Also, I got the best result for the Nvidia graphics card with these drivers:

I have everything working now! Except for one thing. The camera drivers. I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Thank you! It works! Does the drivers make the microphone work also?

    No problem.

I'm not sure about the microphone, I've never used it. You can probably try it with the VAIO capture utility?

Off topic question: can you set your Jap/Euro keyboard to NA-standard? Like with @ above 2 rather than where the " should be?

Yep, I had actually written about that in my review, but it was taken out. Vista didn't have the proper key mapping, while it was set to a Japanese keyboard. You can set it to whatever you want, English, USA, etc. But Japanese didn't work for me. The keys were still mapped wrong. So I downloaded Microsoft Keyboard Creator 1.4 and made my own profile. This way I could map the keys myself.

OK, I'm going through the same exact thing... which bluetooth drivers did you use?

Edit: What exactly did you do to get all the drivers to work? My wifi isn't working and neither is bluetooth; fn buttons work. I try to install the bt and wireless driver and get the popup that tells me the drivers weren't intended for my computer. I also have the built in cinglar card.

This really shouldn't be so difficult.
