I've recently downgraded my TZ150N to winxp.
Everything works fine, its just that the graphics driver only shows 64mb of shared memory.
Checked specs with utlities likes Everest, pchardware, directx info, all of them show me 64mb.

Also i've ran 3dmark 2001se with a little losse in performance vs Vista so the 64md limit might be true and not only a bad info of the utilities.

In Vista the Card Reported 256MB of shared memory.

Is there a way to tweak the graphics driver to uncap de limit of 64mb in winxp?

    thanx.

Do the Windows "Display Settings" and Intel Driver applet list 64MB also? If you right-click on the desktop and choose "properties", then "advanced settings", then look under the "adapter" tab, and under "adapter information" it should list 64MB as system video memory and 256MB as total available graphics memory.

Then from there, click on the "Intel Graphics" tab, and then on the "graphic properties" button, and then on the "information" button at the bottom. Mine lists 8MB minimum, 256MB maximum, and 99MB in use.

My results are with Vista installed, but it's worth checking the Windows and Intel driver info first before trying to change anything.

oh yes, in Vista it show me the same as you, but in XP it shows this:
    Minimum Graphics Memory:8 MB
    Maximum Graphics Memory:64 MB
    Graphics Memory in Use:8 MB

The truth is that 64mb of vram isn't "that" band under XP, but i'd really like to be able to get the "extra punch" that this card is capable of.
Thank you for ur answere. :)

Hmm.. if performance doesn't seem too bad, then maybe the memory is being reported wrong by the system (my TZ reports a 1.33GHz U7700 CPU, even though I'm positive it's the 1.2GHz U7600). Maybe try updating the driver (under device manager) or completely reinstalling the driver? Not sure if there's any way to adjust the memory being used, other than by changing drivers.

Plus, I don't remember seeing anybody else with this problem in any of the "XP Downgrade" threads.

After searching a lot about this issue (wich also concern to mac books),just found out that the driver that sony provides for XP is generic so that explain everything. Also I realize that in XP with the driver provided by sony or Intel which is the same, Dual Dislpay doesnt work properly, gave me a lot of issues when trying to perform a presentation in a projector .

Well, thats my story, it seems that sony doesn't really support Windows XP anymore.

I think im gonna give a try to windows speedboost in Vista to compensate a little bit my slow 4200rpm Harddrive.
Hope this thread helps ppl to chose if a downgrade is an option for them.

I guess this thread can be closed by now.

    I used a Retail WINXP SP2 that I Slipstreamed to SP3.
I really doubt that the Downgrade Disc of WinXp could solve the problem since the drivers for XP are Quoted "Provides basic functionality" and actually its what it does.
