I have a vaio GRZ610 laptop. I realize that the fan is a bit loud and also read many reviews about overheat problem, even though i do not experience one yet. I want to know what i can do to avoud this overheat problem in the future? e.g. did anyone try a laptop cooler that works with sony laptops? thanks.

I have used the Antec laptop cooler on a Z505ls with extreme overheating problems, due mostly to environmental factors. During the summer ithas reached temps of 130-140 degrees F. With the antec cooler, this has been reduced to 95-100 degrees. Still hot, but much better.

One caution however... The antec product does have two fans, but will most likely require some experimentation to find the best alignment for a particular notebook, and the best results will be on a flat surface like a table. Also, because it was designed to be somewhat portable it will have problem with some of the larger notebooks. Experimenting with my GRT, I found the optimum cooling location to be very precarious, although with that machine very little extra cooling was obtained.

Is it just me or is my sony possessed by Satan?

Hi, my GRZ610 started shutting down about 3 months into it's use. Doesn't seem to be related to ambient temp. I live in a cool climate, prop the computer up on its little legs and leave the windows of my house open; problem still occurs.
