Hello, my laptop model is Sony vpcz116gg and the video card is GT 330m. I've seen on YouTube that the GT 330m runs Borderlands 2 on highest setting. Now I can't even run Rayman Legends on the lowest setting smoothly. I still managed to play The Walking Dead series without lags on the lowest setting (thank god). And then I tried playing this game called Gone Home, and it lags like hell on the lowest setting (the game is only about 500mb). I really don't get it. Here's why:

    vpcz116gg specification:
    • Intel® Core™ i5-540M Processor 2.53 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.06 GHz*1
    • 6 GB DDR3 SDRAM*2 (upgradeable up to 8 GB*3)
    • Flash Memory 128 GB*4 (64 GB x 2, Serial ATA, RAID 0 support*5)
    • Graphics Accelerator NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M GPU with CUDA™ Technology (SPEED MODE) / Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD (STAMINA MODE)
    • Dedicated Video Memory 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM (SPEED MODE)

    Gone Home requirement:
    Minimum:
    • WindowsXP SP2 or higher
    • 1.80GHz Processor
    • 2GB Memory
    • Intel HD Graphics 4000
    • 2GB HDD space

Anyone else experience this problem? Any tips?

yes I'm using the latest driver provided by Sony which was in 2010. Judging from your signature our laptop models are similar, I've checked Andrew's post, did you install Nvidia 26314 - Intel 2266 signed.rar for your GT 300m? How's the performance after?

The driver which came with my Z1 kept crashing. Andrew08's Nvidia 26314 - Intel 2266 signed driver is very good - I have no complaints. I have even played Tomb Raider (2013) on medium settings, but that is about as far as a GT330M will go. I have used it on 64 bit Windows 7 pro, Windows 7 pro (clean install) and Windows 8 pro (clean install).

Also make sure that you are not running on "silent" temperature policy. You can change that in vaio control center. The silent setting throttles cpu periodically instead of ramping up the fan so almost any game will be unplayable.
