    I will soon be replacing my aging DELL Inspirion 8100 and have been closely looking at the Sony AR290G. I like the 290G for the following reasons: (1) large 17" screen (getting harder to see at my age); (2) built-in video cam;
    (3) fast video card; (4) intel duo-core 2 cpu; (5) built-in NTSC tuner; and (6)ability to use a port-replicator.

    I know this beastie is heavy, but I only have to lug it back and forth from home once a day, to my office.

    Just curious as to the ability of this notebook to play newly released games, since I usually take a break at lunch and allow myself the pleasure of some relaxation. I am familiar with the various written specs of this machine as well as the Nvidia 7600GT video card. Looking for some REAL life experiences with regard to gaming.

    Thanks in advance.

    Oh, if someone can suggest a 17" with duo-core 2, Nvidia 7600GT or faster , AND the ability to use a dedicated port replicator (not a Targus generic), I am all ears.

    Theres plenty of better 17" Core 2 Duo gaming notebooks out there, with much faster graphics cards, but the port replicator thing kinda kills them all.
    I believe that the AR is the only notebook that has your requirements, and it seems to suit you well.

    I can't offer much in the way of gaming, but there are a few AR owners on the forums that should be able to help you there.
