    Greetings,

I am considering the two following models: SR290 and Z540. My question relates to the overall build quality of these models as well as battery life with the extended battery.

Basically Im deciding between these 2 and a lenovo. The lenovo is heavier than both, is well made, and has ridiculous battery life. Just curious as to how the sony's stand up over time.

    Cheers

Z is one of the best built quality available in laptops for general use.

This does not mean SR is bad, but Z is awesome.

Interesting, thank you. Ive read that the standard battery that comes with them is adequate and the extended battery is much better, but I still cant find exactly how good the battery life is.

The Z has a rebate on it right now and one of the coices is for an extra battery. I prefer the lower profile of the standard battery and I'll just keep an extra one in my case. Can't speak to how good they are though as I don't have mine yet.

I'd have to say the build quality of the Z is very impressive. Its up there with my old thinkpad and better than my dell and toshiba. The display blows any ibm out of the water, from what ive read on multiple reviews. When shopping for the computer i looked at the Z, X301 and X200 lenovos. With the Z i saw it in person at best buy and sony style stores. With the lenovo i could not find any at any retail location. Im in miami florida and called lenovo north america. they barely spoke english and told me someone would call me. An authorized repair person came by and had a t40 he also was the authorized repair for dell and gateway. With this representation of there company i went with the sony z590. i had a failed harddrive and they gave me a free extended battery. it lasts for 9 hrs on stamina and barely adds weight. i especially like the raised keyboard. Go with a sony or a mac they have the most impressice build quality and i still havent seen a lenovo only the old ibms
