I just received new one-7800 mA ( from German company, not any Ebay - China connection) for my SZ38 but already considering sending it back (taking advantage of EU return/refund laws). While I get around 4 hours on 2 years old original 5200mA (stammina, FW, DVD off, BT&WLAN on) the new one worked around 5 and half only by the first time. Im trying to follow the calibration instructions I found on this forum, so run fully then recharged but when I checked it today does not look like it does any better, perhaps only 5 h. So considering weight and the size (though it make it sit better on iFold stand) does not look like it makes sense. I was expecting 8h, 6 would be acceptable but 5 only?
Maybe I miss something about the calibration otherwise getting second, regular size, even used original Vaio can make more sense, similar weight with more flexibility and run time (since each 5200mA will easily run 3-4,5 h.) Pity that originals are not available anymore from Sony, and I am not much interested overpaying some privat dealer that might be selling "new" but 4 years stored unit.
Will appreciate any tips on how to calibrate, I have 12 days more for getting full refund so enough time to experiment.

first one i bought wear level went from 0-12 within a week, got a replacement, since i have my notebook plugged most of the time i took it out and boxed it up, but when i took it out to use it, guess what it was dead, worked fine when i got it.

So i don't have much luck with non OEM battery`s

Do you really think, that the german company sells other battery as the chinese seller on ebay? A lot of genuine Sony batteries are made in China too.

If you're living in Germany you can get the genuine Sony battery for your laptop here, here or here, the extended 7800maH battery here. But you have to pay a genuine price.

Thanks, this kind of info is very valuable. The company I bought was very professional, it is same/similar product as ordered directly from China or HK, though hoping they do some good selection, choice of manufacturer there. That is for what customers pay more- and their job is to know from whom to buy and take care not to get screwed. Maybe I should rush , to get refund before they are bankrupt, i am not paying for people learning how to deal with Chinese biz partners ( I know it from music industry, it is damn tough, they can make good samples but to get same once order is placed.....)

I personally stay away from non-OEM batteries and non-OEM Ac Adapters. Whilst Sony probably uses the same providers as other 3rd-party sellers, it is their quality control that makes the difference.

    cheers ...

I still should give a chance to this unbranded-before sending back, maybe I didnt calibrate it properly. It came with 98%,charged it to 100%, let it play till 5% then charged again. That is how I understood the instructions from the battery pack thread.
