Help please,
I am getting a message when pressing the AV MODE, "The instant mode app could not be found". It asked me to run the recovery image.
Is there any other ways to run AV mode portion of the recovery CD or any other means avoiding the full recovery CD installation?

You will need to restore TX to it's factory setting to setup the partitions and boot sectors correctly.
I think the BIOS looks for a certain sector on the 1st partition; COMPAQ Service/recovery partition. That partiton must have a special boot sector where it can load a striped version of Linux to run the InstantON application or boot Windows XP on the 2nd partition.
What's interesting to me is that the actual InstantOn application resides on C:\InstantOn. This is possible since Linux can read NTFS.
Thus far, I could not find any good information that shows the detail of VAIO instantOn setup. -
thats wrong..
It has nothing todo with partitions. You need to install the 2 things from the Recovery DVD's "instant Mode" in the applications list and "av mode" in the drivers list. -
MHX, Thanks for the tip.
I thought that InstantON feature from power down requires Linux.
Can anyone kind enough to send me "instant mode" and "av mode"?
my email is
[email protected]
Thank you. -
You need the recovery cd's. I will check when i get home to see if i can zip/rar them up for you

mhx,
I attemped to make my own recovery dvd but was kept getting DVD write error while making it. I tried like 5 times on my crappy DVD-Rs only one of them got like 90% complete. I looked at the 90% completed rec. DVD. It had ini and txt config files that show lists of drivers and applications that you see on the recovery menu and their actual .exe file name.
So from those cinfig files, you see which .exe is for Instant ON and AV MODE.
Thank you so much!! -
Thanx guys,
I am currenty creating a recoverable DVD. Just to double check, from this Recoverable DVD, I can choose to install just the instant mode and av mode from the recoverable DVD without reinstalling the OS.
