im ordering my sz650n/c in a week, and just had some basic questions...

    1. Do laptop batteries these days still need that initial charge of 12+ hours?
I heard that they do but i've also heard that they dont...

    2. What's the best method of checking for light leakage or color banding on the lcd?

    3. What's the resolution of the webcam?

    thanks

    1. I've understanded they dont. There is a recent thread on this. Atleast I didnt and as soon as the battery was 100% it stopped charging so I'm thinking no. Not sure on this one.

    2. Light leakage: bootup, black screen, look for bright(er) black on the bottom. Color banding: type about:blank in explorer and decrease brightness. You either get bugged by something or you dont.

    3. Should be 1.3. If you take a still of a A4 with text it's readable. Just checked sony finland and it says 0.3 but it should be 1.3. Correct e if I'm wrong.

    1. I don't think you need initial 12 hour charge, but you should charge it overnight just in case (it will stop charging automatically once its full i guess). You should also do a full charge + full discharge three times to condition it.

    2. Because of the nature of the LED lighting, it will be normal to see a small amount of leakage on the bottom, so don't get worried if you see that.

there is no need of initial charge on lithium battery. this procedure is mainly for old nickel-cadmium (NiCd) battery with "memory effect"
