Getting Realtek HD Audio Manager to work on Sony laptop

this problem had been bothering me for several years where installing any Realtek audio driver on my brother's Sony Vaio VPCEB44FX laptop would not produce a working Realtek HD Audio manager control panel (not even the original 6098 Realtek audio driver for that laptop) - until a few months ago I found an 8459 Realtek audio driver package that had an rtkhdaud.dat configuration file that allowed the Realtek audio control panel program to actually run on the Sony laptop. that file gets installed onto the \Windows\System32\drivers\ folder.

without this special rtkhdaud.dat config file, the Realtek audio control panel would not even run on the Sony laptop (click on the zip attachment and copy the rtkhdaud.dat file onto the \Windows\System32\drivers\ folder and reboot, then after the windows desktop loads, look for the RAVCpl64.exe file inside the \Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\ folder and double-click on it to run the Realtek HD Audio Manager program - see pic below)




one drawback of using this dat configuration file is that it will disable/remove the Dolby v3 audio enhancements that came with certain Sony laptops (like the vpceb44fx). I no longer needed the Dolby home theater v3 options since that version of dolby is so weak (turning on dolby pcee3 made very little or no difference in the audio) and I'm better off using Realtek audio drivers with a working realtek control panel.
