I'm going to order an FW any day now from the Sony site and I have just two questions. First off, here are the specs I'm going with:
CPU: 2.53
4gb RAM
320gb 7200rpm
Blue-ray read only
XBRITE FullHD
Is it worth paying the extra $50 for Vista Business 32bit or just going with the Home Premimum 64bit? I'd like to use fresh start but what would the other benefits be?
Finally, I'm not sure whether to get it in grey or black. I went into my local Best Buy and they only had it in white and I didn't like that. I'm wondering if the black is a matte black or a shiny black?

Well I would recommend not getting the 2.53 cpu, the benefit over the 2.24 or 2.4 is very mininal, and the P8xxx cpus use less power. depends what you will use it for.
I tried opting for the vista business 32bit and fresh start on the canadian sony site, and it came out cheaper to get the 64 bit home premium and keep the other stuff. around 50 bucks cheaper. and then I could easily just install the 32bit home premium myself.
As for the colour, I opted for black since it is not shiny and would not be a fingerprint magnet like some other brands, notably the toshiba ones I saw at future shop. -
I'd go with Home Premium 64-bit. There are some threads here in the Sony forum about doing a semi-clean install using the recovery image. (I have no personal experience with that though.)
If you choose a 32-bit OS, keep in mind that you won't be able to use 4 gb of RAM... it'll only be able to make use of about 3 gb or so. 64-bit OSes can use the full 4 gb of RAM... and 64-bit Vista runs slightly faster and smoother than 32-bit IMO even without 4 gb.
Getting a FW - just two questions
